We studied  207 taxa and 205 pathways from gut microbiomes of 7,738 participants in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2020.11.27.401125v1\" title=\"https:\/\/www.biorxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2020.11.27.401125v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Dutch Microbiome Project<\/a>, a cohort from the Northern Netherlands. We found two  obust, study-wide significant (<em>p<\/em>&lt;1.89\u00d710<sup>\u221210<\/sup>) signals near the&nbsp;<em>LCT<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>ABO<\/em>&nbsp;genes were found to affect multiple microbial taxa and pathways, and replicated these results in two independent cohorts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We found that the <em>LCT<\/em>\u00a0locus associations are modulated by host&#8217;s lactose intake, while those at\u00a0<em>ABO<\/em>\u00a0reflected participant secretor status determined by\u00a0<em>FUT2<\/em>\u00a0genotype. Eighteen other loci showed suggestive evidence (<em>p<\/em>&lt;5\u00d710<sup>\u22128<\/sup>) of association with microbial taxa and pathways.
